It has been awhile since I have written about our tranquil farm in Indian Trail, N.C. Where do I start? Covid has effected so many people and farms in the past 3 years and has also shifted our vision . We must learn to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Mr Slippers fleece our cria before shearing
We are getting excited to see this years harvest of yummy oh so soft Alpaca fleece! Shearing is right around the corner and our 10 alpacas are really growing some bright fiber. After our fleece is shorn I then skirt the fiber getting out any vegetable matter like hay and dirt. Then I grade my fleeces then take off the hairy parts around the chest and belly. Felted soaps
I am an Artist and have always worked with clay, watercolor, pastel and acrylic mediums but I had never created with alpaca fiber until September of 2012 when I was gifted my first two female alpacas. I took many classes through local alpaca organization’s and I was influenced by other fiber people in my life. Wonderful Wallace just had her first cria. It's A BOY! He was born on May 9th,2017 which was his due date. Wallace is an amazing first mom with lot's of rich milk. We named him " Healing Hearts Roman Legend" because he is our first boy born to our small farm. He is our legend that will blaze a new trail for our farm!
