About Us
Native North Carolinians, we have lived “Down East” and in the central part of the state. We have been raising and managing alpacas since 2009 in our current location in Johnston County. Both Lori and Kenneth have had lifelong interests in being on our own farm (or more accurately, returning to a life on the farm). The rural and pastoral setting of our location drew us back to a more sustainable lifestyle, but the area has grown so quickly that it barely seems rural anymore!
Kenneth manages the farm infrastructure, the greenhouse and the vegetable plots, and during the growing season always has extra veggies, although each year is a little different in abundance. He also loves to fish in the pond. Lori, who is interested in fiber arts was initially wanting sheep for their fiber, but could not decide about the breed. She stumbled upon alpacas at an NC farm festival years ago had was smitten. At that time, the idea of a farm was in the far future but over the course of a few years, we volunteered at a few of the alpaca farm shows to learn about the alpaca "industry", visited a multitude of alpaca farms and did a lot of research before buying the first alpacas. In any case, alpacas are more personable than sheep! We now raise these lovely guys and our goals are to have well-conformed, healthy and quality alpacas. All of our alpacas are registered and many of them are multiple ribbon winners.
Lori is proficient in the fiber arts and teaches classes in hand spinning, felting and fiber processing. The Farm Store includes lots of alpaca yarn, alpaca clothing, fiber arts supplies and her signature hand felted hats.
