A few hours old.
SURPRISE!!! Went out for about 3 hours on Saturday morning and came back to find a new little GIRL! The surprise is that she wasn't born to the mom that was currently in the maternity yard (and overdue by 2 days) ... oh no, this little girl was born to our awesome foundation female Divinity who wasn't due for another 3 weeks. Little girl was out in the pasture, standing, nursing and walking/running around with the "big kids!" Mom and baby are both doing great, and although born 3 weeks early, li read more...
With mom and Aunt Rosie ... the alpaca that was SUPPOSED to be having a baby!
Being checked out by Mariah the guard llama.
Where the 2-leggers found me ... in the pasture playing with the big kids!
I spend a lot of time at the milk bar ... being born makes me hungry!

Matching purple outfits!
Alpacas are intrigued by children - especially the first time they see them! I absolutely love to be around when a "new" alpaca (either new to my farm, or a new cria) see and meet a child for the first time! What makes it even more fun is when the child (in this case, my grand-niece ... isn't she absolutely adorable?) loves the animals and wants to kiss them all. Looks like he/she wants to move in!
I make fleece-filled grapevine balls with some of my alpaca fleeces. These colorful grapevine balls look lovely hanging in the garden (or in the house ... sometimes I don't want to put them outside!)
An added bonus for those who love birds is that birds love to snitch fleece to use in their nests. For quite a while, my grapevine ball has looked like it may have had some "visitors," but I was never able to catch the elusive bird(s) in action ... until now! Check out the pictures of my fe read more...
Caught in the act!
You can actually see a strand of fleece in this birds beak.
Before I hung it outside (and with a decorative bow attached).

Easter Baby Boy ... 3 days old
We received a very special Easter present this year!!! The first cria of the year arrived on Easter Sunday to mom Divinity (Peruvian Presidio daughter, Caligula granddaughter) and dad MFI Peruvian Wellington (a PPPeruvian Augusto son). We thought last year's 17 lb "Moose" was a whopper, but this boy takes the cake weighing in at 20 lbs!!!! He is a beautiful, brilliant white little man with super soft curly fleece. Mom Divinity delivered her gift unassisted - he was found during a barn check stan read more...
