About Us
Horse Mountain Alpacas has been happily raising huacaya alpacas in Loma since 2004. Every May we harvest the fiber from our herd of 30 alpacas. All the fiber from our alpacas is put to use in some way! We sort their fleeces by color, grade it for fineness and process it into a variety of products. Some of our fiber is sent to cooperatives and made into socks, gloves and blankets. Some is spun into rug yarn and woven into gorgeous one of a kind rugs that your toes just have to feel to believe. The rest is homespun by Leah into soft and luxurious yarns. She then creates products such as hats, scarves, fingerless gloves, baby booties and felted soaps.
Our herd consists of some very well known and proven genetics, such as PPPeruvian Royal Fawn, MFI Brock, Peruvian Drambuie, Brilliance of Peru, Accoyo Bizcocho, PPeruvian Timoteo, PPeruvian Camillio, PCA Accoyo El Nino, Peruvian Presidio, 6Peruvian Accoyo Grand Triumph, Snowmass Infinity, Snowmass Legacy Gold, Snowmass Invincible, Peruvian Hemingway, Snowmass Casanova, Bolivian Cheiftan and Redeemer of Bolivia. We don't often show but when we do we usually stand up to the competition! Many of the alpacas in our herd are award winners or come from award winning lines!
We feature hands-on visits with the alpacas at our farm. Any time is a good time but we often have baby alpacas (Crias) April-September!!
We have alpacas for sale at a variety of ages and colors and always have plenty of luxurious fiber available for sale. You can buy it raw (right off the animal), in bat form or as roving. If you are a fiber artist or have a special need let us know. We can set aside a fleece or have it processed to your specifications!
