Unique Opportunties
Guided Tours
We will share information about alpacas such as their history, genetics, care and nutrition, shearing, fiber processing and much more. Information will be tailored to the age and interest of our visitors.
This is an opportunity to:
- ask questions, gain 1st-hand knowledge about what makes alpacas so unique,
- walk among the alpacas, watch alpacas playing in the pasture and up close,
- handle alpaca fiber shorn this past spring, and samples from the various stages of processing fiber into yarn,
- explore alpaca products, yarn and alpaca novelty items in the small marketplace, and
- take lots of photos.
Handfeeding
Level of interaction with our alpacas is based on the size of your group. Handfeeding includes all the Guided Tour options plus the opportunity to hand-feed the alpaca their special treats and interact directly with the alpacas.
To minimize stress on the alpacas, only smaller groups (6 or less) may have the opportunity to hand-feed and interact directly with the alpacas.
Larger groups may be broken into smaller groups or other options may be considered to accommodate a larger group (please discuss as part of your booking as this is not always possible).
School & Non-Profit Groups
Aurora Alpacas can work with you to create a specific experience to meet your needs. To date we have offered tours to Youth groups, schools/homeschool groups, and Seniors groups with different levels of interaction.
Please contact us directly to discuss details.
Picnic with Alpacas
Aurora Alpacas will provide a basic introduction to alpacas and overview/rules of the ranch. Then you are on your own!
We will set you up with a picnic table or large picnic mat (or bring your own) in an area with alpacas grazing. We will also provide you with the alpaca’s special treat to handfeed them. Alpacas are so curious that you may not get the opportunity to eat your own lunch. Be ready to take lots of photos.
Photo Opportunities
Aurora Alpacas welcomes photography! If you are looking to book a photo shoot, please contact us directly to discuss details.
