Welcome to Three Points Alpaca Farm & Fiber Mill
Three Points Alpaca Farm and Fiber Mill is located in Sunman Indiana, just off I-74 between Cincinnati OH and Indianapolis IN. We're a small farm with big goals for our herd and the amazing fiber they produce.
Three Points Alpaca Farm and Fiber Mill grew out of Mike’s lifelong desire to own a small farm and his love of animals. Fortunately, Nancy was willing to help make the dream a reality, although she likens herself to Lisa Douglas (Eva Gabor) of Green Acres. After years of research, we decided on Huacaya (wa-KI-ah) alpaca because of their high-quality fleece, low environmental impact, ease of herd management and they’re adorable so what’s not to love?
We started from scratch, buying 14 acres that was a cornfield at the time. It was a busy first 6 months of building the barn, planting 14 acres of pastures and finally fencing off 3 - 1 acre pastures. I’m not sure who was happier when we finally opened the gate to let the alpaca on the pastures for the first time but they were behaving like kids in a candy shop.
We are committed to using sustainable livestock husbandry. In addition to dramatically improving the welfare of our farm animals and pastures it also helps reduce environmental damage.
From the outset our focus has been on their fiber, basing our breeding decisions on developing lasting fineness, staple length and conformation. Our efforts have been rewarded with this year’s cria producing fleeces all coming in at under 16 micron, 4.5” to 5.5” staple length and prime blankets weighing in at over 4 pounds!
We’d love to have the opportunity to share our experiences with you and help you develop your alpaca herd. Our services include the sale and breeding of the highest quality alpaca, agistment (boarding) of your alpaca, fiber processing in our mill and farm planning. We also will provide training in animal husbandry, pasture management, farm planning, barn and pasture layout and more.
