Alpaca farming and the path to profitability!
Maple View Alpacas has been breeding alpacas since 2007, with a focus of always improving. There have been some moves and a lot of changes, but one thing that has remain consistent is the production of beautiful babies. Always breeding up and the continuing introduction of championship genetics into my herd.
The MFD of my breeding females is 15.6 to 22 microns and I carefully select the Herd sires that will enhance the quality of the offspring's fleece.
In building a new farm I've had to back away from the show circuit for a while, but the quality of my alpacas is in their fleece not in a ribbon.
When you look at my alpacas, look at the histograms and the certificates, then compare price. I offer Quality alpacas at reasonable prices. Mentoring, breeding, practical farm craft and knowledge on how to become profitable enterprise selling alpaca products. We all love raising alpacas, I will show you how to make money doing it.
As I mentioned earlier, I stepped away from the show ring, the reason behind it now is where can I make the most money. I know how to breed quality alpacas, where do I get the most bang for my buck.
I can spend $1500 to $2000 taking my alpacas to a show or spend that same money selling alpaca products at farmers markets that produce $3000 to $4000 in income!!!!
For the average farm those ribbons will validate the quality of your animals, but they don't put food on the table. I take my animals with me when I do a market or an event, they attract customers to my products and my animals. I have sold 14 alpacas at these events. While their kids feed the animals, the parents buy the products, and I get a chance to talk to them about the benefits of raising alpacas. It is win, win they buy a pair of socks, their kids pester them all week about feeding the alpacas again, they come back having experienced the qualities of alpaca products, and they buy more. Over $330K sold since 2017
