Committed to the alpaca and the industry
Bluebird Hills is a long established farm in west central Ohio (between Dayton and Columbus). Laurel (chief alpaca personage) is a certified AOA Judge in Halter, Fleece, and Performance and is currently serving on the Suri Network Board of Directors. While her husband Tim helps with the alpacas, he is not as involved, and manages the farm and his bee herd instead. Now grown, their 4 kids have all participated in 4H with the alpacas. While the primary focus of the farm has been breeding suris, we do appreciate and have some huacayas, and have recently added Romeldale CVM Sheep to our fiber producing farm.
In her previous life, Laurel was a Physician Assistant and is fascinated by the science and uniqueness of alpacas. Through public speaking, doing workshops, and mentoring new owners, she enjoys sharing her knowledge about alpaca husbandry, conformation and fiber all gathered from her years of experience.
Bluebird Hills also raises Romeldale CVM sheep and currently has a herd of 20. In her spare time, Laurel also enjoys "playing" with alpaca fiber. She weaves, knits, crochets, felts, and enjoys experimenting with dying her alpacas' fiber to create new and exciting yarns. She also enjoys integrating alpaca with her romeldale wool and other fibers to create unique, one of a kind products.
Giver her a call to talk about alpacas, sheep, or their fiber!
