SEASON OPENING WEEKEND October 12, 13, 14 (Sat, Sun, Mon) from Noon to 5 pm
This year we are participating in the Real Maine Fiber Tour & Trail (details on RealMaine.com/agritourism).
Happy Snowman Alpaca Farm is a family farm established in 2014, now located in the Maine foothills. We are primarily focused on fiber production and agritourism. We are members of Harvest Hosts offering overnight stays at the farm for small and medium-sized RVs. We are former 4-H leaders, working with kids in various events and competitions, including farmers' markets, county fairs, and The Big E.
REGULAR WEEKEND STORE HOURS for OCTOBER through DECEMBER (Christmas) 2024 are on weekends from Noon to 5 PM. Otherwise, weekday hours can be arranged by appointment only. If the store is open, self-guided farm visits (outside the paddocks) are free to visitors. Feeding Tours, where you can go into the paddocks with the alpacas/llamas for an up-close and personal experience, feed them by hand, ask questions, and learn about the alpacas, llamas, and chickens we have in residence will be available by appointment for $10 per person ($5 for children under 12).
Our farm store provides a variety of alpaca-made and alpaca-related products, including warm winter socks and accessories, blankets, alpaca and mixed-fiber yarns and rovings, stuffed toys when available, and other useful things. We carry some Schacht Cricket looms, and we are an Ashford Spinning wheel dealer and can order anything needed. We also carry seasonal garden vegetables (squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, garlic, fresh and dried bunching onions, fresh and dried kale, rosemary, sage, and pumpkins) when available. EGGS are available throughout the year and may be picked up outside the farm store at any time.
We are newly licensed in 2024 as a cottage kitchen and have baked goods (muffins, cookies, breads) available. These are stored in our egg fridge until we have a squirrel-proof enclosure for them (!!) Check our green farm stand for daily offerings.
Annual SHEARING DAY is in early June. The alpacas will go from fluffy-stuffies to skinny-minis all in one day. Starts early... Usually around 8:30 AM. Dates TBD in early Spring.
FIBER CLASSES started with Learning to Spin in spring of 2022. Future additional fiber classes may include tapestry loom weaving, beginner rigid heddle weaving, and beginner peg loom weaving. We may add in a dying class and needle felting a gnome! Please contact us if you are interested in a class.
We are very excited to offer Alpaca Strolls! We have some nice (alpaca) boys who are more accustomed to being handled who will walk with you on paths around the farm. Reservations are preferred. These are weather dependent, so if it is raining or too hot, we will reschedule your reservation for a better time. These will be initially priced at $10 per person. Limit 5 alpacas out at a time. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.
