About Us
It was an abnormally warm February morning in the sandhills region of western Nebraska when three female Suri alpacas brought life back into a barn that had sat empty since the late 1970s. That barn and accompanying acreage became home to many champion Suri alpacas, fostering the herd we call our family today.
Today's alpaca industry looks quite different than the industry we stepped into 20+ years ago. Despite that, our mission in the industry -- breeding for gray Suri alpacas, a rarity in the early 2000s -- remains unchanged. It was Kay's analytic and scientific expertise, coupled with a background growing up around livestock, that gave her a huge advantage to reach ambitious breeding goals, doing so with the second cria born at Sandhills Suri. Early advice we received from a mentor was to buy alpacas that YOU want to look at every day. We did that. We bought quality, champion Suri, and have continued to breed an elite herd that embody our goals and mission in the industry.
We recognize that every alpaca breeder today has a different "why" for entering the industry. Our alpacas have traversed the United States, competing at AOA certified alpaca shows, and have been invited guests to many local events in our surrounding region. After more than 20 years in the industry, we still have the same excitement and passion for these animals that we had that February morning when Lorraine, Symphony, and Kimberly entered our lives and laid the foundation for the herd we have today. We feel incredibly fortunate to call these animals family and are honored to be their caretakers.
We are looking to the future, with new ideas and goals that we hope to achieve with our herd, and we invite you to join us on this journey!
