Going beyond the Blanket
Welcome to our site :) We have been breeders and buyers of alpacas for 25 plus years now and have watched the industry grow while the animal quality grew with it. Our herd consists of Proven high quality Huacaya that we have collected and bred, which are proving to be some of the best genetics imported to North America. We continually try and better the breed and hope to some day arrive at the 20/20/15 goal of 20 lbs. of 20 micron fibre at 15yrs of age. Big goal we know, but look what they have done with Merino Sheep. We breed highly vigorous animals while focusing on genetic reproduction, abundance of milk and prepotency for easy conception. We also continue to use Impact Macho's, with a very Showy, proud presence, that are easy to handle, these traits are obvious and recognized in our Show stock. For the last 10+ years we have focused on (going beyond the blanket)getting the neck fibre, and fibre to the knee to match the blanket and are seeing some excellent results. Another goal has been getting the lower belly crimp to match the upper-mid side and eliminating Guard hair in the blanket, bib and neck areas. Our animals our being recognized by many judges for their excessive fleece length, density and absence of guard hair. Our herd is diverse in color and age and we have culled hard to get an elite breeding stock, which are producing highly advanced animals for us and our customers. If your a new or experienced breeder we have an animal to fill the void. We have recently seen great success with Line breeding MFI & TNT Foundation offspring, solidifying positive traits with no negative side effects. Bonding genetic traits that are favorable for fleece quality, strong/solid conformation, healthy, with presence, calm personality, with lots of milk and strong mothering instincts. This is advancing our goals much faster rate and stamping in strong genetic traits. We are seeing the longevity of older animals carrying the same fibre qualities as yearlings :)
