Scotia Acres Alpacas joined the NFP!
We are really excited to have our fiber Certified Sorted and Graded! We look forward to the improved quality of our alpaca products! It gives us a sense of pride knowing our products will be improved due to this process of sorting and grading which guarantees a more uniform and consistent product. We know our customers will be pleased!

After a successful shearing day on Tuesday 5/21 the Campbell family gets ready for a crusie to the Bahamas!

I was dreaming :(
There is no time to rest.
We have 72 bags of fleece to skirt and tumble then sell or ship to a mill to be made into awesome yarn or products...
Also, we have a "few" projects going on...
On Tuesday 5/28 a hole will begin to be dug for the HUAP (high use animal pad), this is a NRCS project to help with manure management

Finally, it is Spring!
If April Showers bring May flowers... what does an alpaca transport trailer bring?

ok, a poet I am not.
But is is Spring, and five of our Suri girls are en route across the country for breeding! Matt from Cedar Ridge Transport arrived, paperwork was checked and the girls were loaded for the trip. The trailer was on its way to Virginia and then Westward. Stops in Ohio, Missouri and Oregon among others.

What is it?
I cannot say I have used all the tools out there, but I would like to take a few guesses:
THE RAKE- it's teethy grin, grabbing at alpaca beans, scattering them in all directions but where you want them to go...I once thought the only purpose of a rake was for cleaning up autumn leaves, but I now know it is also for scraping the cold frozen ground in winter, or the muddy puddles of spring or stirring read more...

My boarding farm was moving... I was recently divorced... I had seven alpacas that needed a home...what could be more LUCKY than meeting "Alpaca Jim".
Yes, it's true, I went to check out a new farm to board my alpacas and it turned out to be the best farm visit EVER!
LONG story short, not only did I find an awesome farm for my alpacas, but I met the Campbells, and eventually married Jim.
