A Special Birthday
Happy Girl in her hat
Even in a herd of sixty we are still able to keep track of birthdays. Today is one of our foundation females, WRSR Peruvian Brandywine’s, 12th birthday. She has been a great mother and always a good milker; which results in good size crias. Her 2012 cria was her tenth, Brandy’s Biondi; he is five months old and already 75 lbs. This was his second time on the halter and he did wonderful walking with his mother.
Brandy is very special and important to us. She was the second farm purchase and has continued to prove herself every year. She has thrown wonderful crias with a variety of lock structures. Some of her crias include: Chesapeak, Brandy's Jordyn, Brandy's Brody, Cape Blanco, and Brandy's Biondi. Brandy was the first in our herd to deliver a grey cria, Gunsmokes's Peruvian Pepperjack (seen in our first blog), in 2003. This year was extra special for Brandy as she welcomed her first grey granddaughter, Ebby.
Brandy has a very calm temperament and had no problem sporting the “Birthday Girl” birthday hat at her “party” with her cria. Brandy and Biondi enjoyed the carrot alfalfa cake, a special treat for a special herd member.
