This workshop will provide instruction and creative time for hand-painting skeins of natural fiber yarn. We will cover the use of acid dyes, available in a wide array of colors, and how to properly dissolve the dyes to achieve your desired results. Squeeze bottles will be used for applying the dye to our beautiful NEAFP alpaca/merino blend yarn included with the workshop. We will be using a microwave to set the colors. Students will be encouraged to experiment with different color patterns. There will be time set aside to further discuss other options for dyeing yarn, rovings, and washed fleece including locks.
