Shearing Season Begins
I think, or at least hope we are finally done with the snow. We are behind schedule with many things this year, including setting up our shearing schedule.
We are coming into our busy season, we have alpacas that need to be halter trained, time to start shearing our alpacas and our clients alpacas. The most excitement of course is that we are expecting 19 crias this year and the first one is due on May 28th.
Most farmers bring in their harvest in the fall, for alpaca farmers spring shearing is our harvest.
Some of you have expressed an interest in participating on shearing day and now is your chance. We will be shearing our alpacas in May. We shear mostly on weekends but if we can get enough volunteers we would love to shear through the week too.
No experience needed, but the love of alpacas, learning something new and a sense of adventure are beneficial. It is a dirty job but it is worth it to be up close and personal with the alpacas and to see how much they appreciate being sheared.
We are setting up our schedule now so please email us right away with the date(s) you would like to come and participate and we will try to co-ordinate enough dates to get it done.
Lunch will be provided.
We also need volunteers to help us halter train the crias born last year. Please email me if you are interested in halter training.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
Have a pronking day!
