Merry Month of May
Things have been pretty busy for the month of May. It seems that fencing on a farm is an endless job. We put up more fencing by the females barn so they now have a huge, lush pasture with shade. We video taped the girls racing about the new pasture, it will soon be posted on our facebook page.
We spent a couple of busy weekends shearing our herd, thankfully we finished before the weather got really warm. We really appreciate our family and friends who came to help us shear, our youngest helper was 9 years old. Now to start getting the fibre ready to be processed into lovely yarns and rovings.
We really like our new barn and are thrilled to find out others do to. Kickin' Back was awarded the Most Spectacular Building for 2011 from Britespan Building Systems, as voted by the Britespan dealers and staff. Our barn has been featured in their ads and was used on their 2011 Christmas card. We invite you to come visit our barn and alpacas.
We have been contacted about three alpacas in need of a new home. They are free to the right farm, for more information please contact us.
The next big event at Kickin' Back is the arrival of the cria's (baby's). We are expecting 17 cria's between now and September. We'll post pictures on our website and on facebook. It is always a challenge to find names that have meaning and match the cria.
