Pursuit of Excellence
Google's definition of excellence is “The quality of being outstanding or extremely good”. This meaning could fit for any product or service from soup to nuts - breeding grey alpacas to white alpacas.
Our alpaca breeding program has been in pursuit of excellence for the past few years. Making sound breeding decisions that will advance our program has become very near and dear to our hearts. I’m sure other breeders will agree, to improve quality, it takes a few basic steps:
Make a commitment. Whether you put this in your business plan, post it on the front page of your website or scream it from the mountaintops – make the commitment to improve!
Track mistakes. If you are going to commit to quality, first you must define exactly what quality is. This means, when you don’t see the quality you want – do some research to not repeat it again.
Invest in training. Seek out the experts, attend workshops and seminars. Dive in, head first!
Organize quality circles. We assess our program constantly and we utilize the help of the show system to provide valuable input.
Have the right attitude. Sure, anything worth doing…………… is worth doing right. Strive for the best and the best, you’ll get.
