Wholesale Alpaca Meat
By: Dutch Hollow Acres
Alpaca meat is a red meat that is very lean low in calories, fat and very high in protein and does not have a game taste. Our alpacas are organically raised (not certified) on grass, high quality hay, and spring water with no antibiotics.
We have alpacas available as whole or half. If purchasing less than the whole alpaca the animal will be taken to the processor when the entire animal sold. Alpacas typically weigh 150 -220lbs and result in 50-90lbs of meat. You can request a larger or smaller alpaca if one is available. Pricing is based on “live weight” and includes transport to the butcher.
Adult Alpaca: $3/lb live weight
Tui (2yrs younger): $5/lb live weight
Adult alpaca meat is best used as ground, sausages, jerky, pepper sticks. Back straps, tenderloin, and stew meat can also be utilized.
Tui meat is tender and can be used for steaks, tenderloins, rack of ribs(frenched), back straps, roasts, as well as ground products.
Prices do NOT include processing fees incurred at the butcher. A $100 non refundable deposit is required to hold your order and an estimated live weight will be given at that time. Half order deposit is $50. We will notify you when your alpaca is ready to be taken to the butcher and give you an exact weight at that time and notify you of the balance.
You will have a choice of which processor you wish to have the alpaca taken to either Marion, NY or Hunt, NY. You will need to contact the butcher of your choice to determine how you would like your alpaca processed. We recommend dry aging the meat a minimum of 5 days up to 10 to allow for more tender and flavorful product.
After your alpaca has been cut, packaged and frozen the butcher will call you directly to have you pick up and pay for their services. Depending on the size of the alpaca typical processing cost range $70-100 per head.
