The original face at The Alpacas of Phantasy Pharm is PPPeruvian Shannon. A full Peruvian, medium fawn female, Shannon is a 94 Peruvian import from the Macusani region of Peru. An elegant lady, she is a stunning combination of femininity, grace, and majestry. Her gorgeous head with deep, captivating eyes is sure to steal your heart. Conformationally correct and balanced, Shannon has outstanding presence which her cria all inherit. Even at the age of ten, her fleece is still baby fine and full of character. In fact, Shannon is the reason why I am in the alpaca business today!
About ten years ago when the thought first entered my mind to raise alpacas, I visited numerous alpaca farms across the country. I was not completely sold on the idea until I spotted Shannon in a herd of about thirty females. Within a matter of seconds, she tilted her head, posed like royalty, and gave me "the look" which only Shannon can do.
Description
Phortune left us in the Fall of 2020, after living a long life and leaving behind many, many outstanding crias. He was our first color champion, leading the way to the winner's circle. Phortune was the "king" of our herd, owning everything and being the boss of everyone. He was always the first to greet arrivals to the farm, except when the shearers would arrive. When he saw their van, he would run and hide, so as not to be shorn. He was a big boy so hiding was not always possible. He hated shearing day! He was also so smart, definitely the valedictorian of the herd. He could turn on and off water faucets as well as lights. He could also read the labels on the feed bags where it said "pull here." He would and enjoyed seeing waterfalls of grain pour out of the bags, sometimes 4-5 bags at a time. He didn't want to eat it, just see it come out of the bags! Phortune, you have given us so many memories, as well as genetics. Rest in peace.
One of the handsome faces at The Alpacas of Phantasy Pharm was APP Peruvian Royal Phortune. A full Peruvian, one-half Accoyo medium fawn herd sire, Royal Phortune was the gifted son of the famed two-time national AOBA Get-of-Sire winner Royal Fawn and PPPeruvian Shannon, a blue-ribbon Produce of Dam winner and my original alpaca. Possessing his sire's trademark royal presence and exceptional fleece, Royal Phortune was a standout. A beautifully proportioned male with a distinctive, typey head, he had inherited exceptional coverage from his top knot down to the tips of his toes. He also boasts a perfect bite, good strong bone, and outstanding comformation. His lustrous dense fleece exhibited strong, bold crimp, fineness, superb handle, and a long staple length. Graded by numerous experts in the industry, Royal Phortune boasted a report card that heralded him as a "the complete package," earning him multiple blue ribbons and a color championship.
However, Royal Phortune was not just a pretty face. He could also capture your heart with his gentle nature, wonderful disposition, and sweet personality. And brains, well, he was definitely the valedictorian of the barn!
Even more important than all these wonderful qualities, Phortune passed these incredible traits down to his crias. Many are clones of their father and famous grandfather, with several darker than both the dam and Phortune! OSA Sophia won the fawn female Reserve Color Championship at OABA 2003 and PAOBA 2004, ZSMF Phletcher won a blue at the Western Ohio Triple Crown 2004, OSA Peruvian Thor won a Reserve Color Championship at the Western Ohio Triple Crown 2006 and Blue Ribbon at AOBA Nationals 2006, OSA Peruvian Zoisite won a Blue Ribbon at AOBA Nationals 2006, and many of his other crias are multi-ribbon winners.
If you wanted to add this incredible set of award-winning genetics and Accoyo bloodline to your breeding program, Royal Phortune was unparalleled!
