Solar de Peru is the son of a fawn Alianza Peruvian Import. He is a full Alianza herdisre who passes on superior genetics, conformation, and fiber to each of his cria. He has several blue ribbon winning cria on the ground including Molly, owned by Suzan an dGene Hillhouse of Hummingbird Ranch in Grain Valley, MO and Cabellas owned by Donna and Ed Rutkowski of Alpaca Fantasy World in Maine, NY.
In particular, Solar passes on fiber filled faces, dense topknots and crimpy fiber with long staple length. We have been very impressed as to just how much improvement breeding to Solar can make in just one generation. Many of Solar's male crias have been purchased as herd sires at other alpaca farms throughout the state.
Solar de Peru's mom is Ppperuvian Sunflower, an import from the third Peruvian importation. And although Solar is white, he has a few fawn spots. We believe that this and his mom's medium fawn color is the factor in Solar's ability to pass on color when bred to color. He has produced color 100% of the time when bred to color. Solar was owned and used as a herdsire at Driscoll Alpacas in Canada where he was referred to as "a top breeding stud". Solar is the father of the first registered twins born in North America. He was bred to a full Accoyo female and the Ali-Accoyo twins were born in 1999. An article on these twins is in the Spring 2000 AOBA Alpacas magazine. We are very pleased to be able to have Solar here on our farm. He is a beautiful alpaca with a long track record of producing top-notch, solid colored crias. If you are looking to add beautiful, soft, crimpy fiber, coverage & that beautiful typey head to your herd without giving up solid color, you might want to consider Solar.
