Solara (pronounced "Sew-LAH-Ruh") is owned by Pat and Bud Overmyer of Rustic Acres Alpaca Farm in Ohio. She is another exclusive offering by Close-Knit Alpacas via The Secret Meadow. You may purchase her individually OR in an outstanding package at an "unspeakable" price only obtained within the private purchasing environment where new beginnings are born!
Solara has one of the most beautiful colorings you'll find! She's golden....truly, and in many ways.
Solara has, from what the Overmyers tell us, been the "best of our production herd."
As with most all alpaca females, one of the primary things we want to know about them is what's their production record and how are they health-wise and more in that department? Well, Solara passes that part of the exam with flying colors! " She loves to be pregnant and can be in 5 minutes," exclaims Pat. "Solara has never had a birthing problem, either, and has been a good mom with plenty of milk." Bud went on to tell us, "Solara weans her crias herself at 6 months, or when she thinks they are ready."
Solara, as mentioned earlier in this listing, has beautiful fleece. "Her fiber handle is like a brillo pad on the outside, but underneath it is soft," say Pat and Bud. Oh, I've heard of and even used that description before for certain alpacas - "feels like a berber rug" is pretty apt.
Solara has a "timid disposition," but "does not really handle real well" on halter, says Pat.
Solara's an ideal production dam but wants her space...lol!
"Solara is the best production female we have." explain the Overmyers. "She breeds easily and is a wonderful mom with plenty of milk. She is very healthy and loves to be pregnant. Solara has produced mostly females and delivers easily. This year she delivered a beautiful MF male who has the fiber of his sire and looks just like him. He is from the Royal Fawn line."
Be sure to add Solara to your list and make her a part of your foundation herd while you can!
