This girl is simply fabulous!!! She's exactly the kind of girl to put at the foundation of a quality breeding program.
Spring Bouquet is the product of iconic genetics; Orlando Cloud, Acero Marka's Mr Know It All, Aussie Rockford, Guellermo, Felix, Carmen Cloud, Victor, and Hannahruh, just to name some of her illustrious family.
Emerald Farm's Orlando Cloud offspring were first shown in 2008, and to date they have won over 80 Color Championships/ Reserve Championships, and over 160 Blue Ribbons!
Orlando was the MAPACA Herdsire of the year in 2012 and 2013.
Spring's maternal line is grey, grey, grey... with Champions galore! Aussie Rockford, Michela's Sweet Ariel, Hannaruh, Grace's Visions of Sugarplum (Victor's Julius' dam).
Whew! Positively heady!
Spring's fleece has retained fineness and consistency over time. We're delighted with her 2014 numbers. At 6 years old, she returned:
AFD: 22.3 µ
SD: 4.9 µ
CV: 22.0 %
CF: 92.8 %
Curve: 42.5 Dg/mm
Staple: 70.0 mm
Even at age 6, this fleece has yummy fineness, combined with good density, beautiful zipper crimp, a gorgeous hand and good staple length.
Her second fleece earned her a much deserved Reserve Championship. It was later sold to Our Back 40 for their incredible yarn.
It is a sumptuous rosey brown. As a grey breeder, I keep thinking, "Well, maybe if I turn it just right in the light..."
Before she was retired from the ring, to the breeding pens, Spring put in a stellar performance in both halter and fleece shows. She earned a Reserve Color Championship in the ring and another one in fleece.
Even at 6, Spring looks wonderful. She has no conformational flaws, a perfect bite and is in continued perfect health.
She's an easy birther, and a great dam... always plenty of milk and no nonsense bonding.
Spring just gave us her third cria... a soft as fairy dust daughter out of Zeppelin. She has grey running through her blanket and on her ears. A lovely, well grown girl.
Here comes the icing on the cake. Spring is bred to 9x banner winner, Annual's Bea-2 Bomber for an August 2, 2015 cria.
Bomber was awarded the Color Championship at AOBA Nationals two consecutive years, and a Reserve Color Championship in fleece... second only to his sire, the incredible, .38 Special!
Bomber's kids are taking the show ring by storm this year on both coasts.
The Grey Alpaca Company chose Bomber especially to breed to their Orlando daughters, and have done so with great success. The resulting offspring are beautiful and fine. They're sure to do well once they begin hitting the ring.
So, we ask, "Why not the same results for a Spring + Bomber cria?"
This is the first time that Spring will be bred to a grey. We hope that with her grey background on the top and bottom of her pedigree, and with the grey running through her 2014 daughter's fleece, that she will produce another grey.
