Description

Tiny was dysmature at birth, weighing only 4 kgs with lax tendons, floppy ears and no erupted teeth. She was born the same day as Beauty, who was claimed by both dams! Tiny had help getting nursing established. At 2 weeks old she weighed 6.5 kgs, had strengthened her legs and was off and running with Beauty. At 5 months, Tiny was half the size of our other crias.

As a yearling, she fits her name perfectly, Tiny, feisty and trusting. Gentle and fearless in a crowd of people. I'm keeping her for PR and eventually for my granddaughter. Madison asked her Mom if she could have an alpaca and Mom said, "ask Mimi"! So of course Tiny now belongs to Madison.

She leads quietly on halter and doesn't mind being picked up! She is learning to do obstacles. When you put a pack on her, it almost touches the ground. Tiny is very comfortable in costumes. Dressed as a taco, a Princess or Wonder Woman, she really is just too cute!

I have never seen a huacaya so comfortable in crowds and willing to be loved on by children. She did bus duty with me once and handled 400 middle schoolers pouring out of buses at her as though it happens every day! When I took her to Plumb Hall at OSU, she went up the stairs, in the door, walked the linoleum hallway and right into an elevator. She wandered the class room, interacting with college students, while I talked about camelids. I don't think any of them heard me, Tiny was the star!
