Cronan is a 3rd generation True Black. His dam has thrown black even when bred to brown so the black genetics run very strong with this male. His grandshire on his dam's side is award winning Peruvian Atahuallpa whose micron count was 23.
In Sept. 2006, Suriland Cronan won 1st place Black Yearling Males (a class of 11) under Dr. Julio Sumar. The competition consisted of males who had won color championships in 2006. The competition had either as sires or grandsires: Pperuvian Angel, Senor Protocol, 4Peruvian Silver Bullet, Black Chip and MacGyver. This class was so tough that two males placed 2nd in other competitions and one male who placed 3rd in competition did not finish in the top 6 at this show.
In Sept. 2005 at Midwest Alpaca Jamboree in Mason City Iowa, Cronan placed 1st in Juvenile at 10 months of age (he was the youngest in the class) and Reserve Color Campion competing against yearlings and 2 year olds.
At 2005 Mid-American Alpaca show Cronan placed 2nd place in the Dark Suri's. He vwas beaten for 1st by a brown male who wen on to take the Reserve Championship. Croan was the youngest in this competition.
At the 2008 Great Midwest Alpaca Fest Cronan won 1st place.
Since breeding Cronan we are happy to report that he is very potent and we have been pleased with his offspring.
We have used his genes for most of our herd and would be willing to trade if someone has a compatable black or gray suri male.
