Midnight is a true black macho with the proud stature and drive of his sire and grandsire, both true blacks. Midnight's dam was part of our original foundation herd hand-picked during a visit to Alpacas of America in Washington state. I had the pleasure of seeing and choosing Highway Man as Midnight's sire. He was an impressive sight, and I chose him hoping to produce a black. Midnight has the same proud stature of his sire and his fondness for the girls!

July 28, 2018: Our sweet Tiramisu died on our farm - she was almost 15 years old.

Tiramisu aka Misu was purchased as a maiden as part of our foundation herd from Alpacas Of America to bring rare genetics to Michigan - original purchase price $19k. Her first cria was our True Black herd sire, Fortune's Shadow. View his certificate populated with color pics of ancestors - this is a color genetics line. Misu's second cria, a light fawn beautiful female named Loretta, sired by Snow Blind, a white 3/4 Accoyo son of legendary import stud PPeruvian Royal Fawn. We were so pleased with Loretta that we rebred Tiramisu to Snow Blind, and she produced a male with his dam's fineness, rich brown color, black points and white stockings. He was so vigorous and striking racing around with those white stockings like a little race horse, we named him Colt.

Misu was bred to True Black studs three times, producing True Black cria each time - one male and two females. Black Velvet and Little Black Dress are two examples of what Misu produced when bred to black. Black Velvet's first cria was another true black, a show-quality female named Summer whose fleece won Dark Color Champion under AOA Judge Wade Gease in 2016.

Tiramisu produced large, vigorous cria and was a good mother with plenty of milk. She was also a gentle female, a bit on the shy side having come from a very large farm. Her offspring have proven to be easy to handle with gentle dispositions.

Description

Black Velvet - the name says it all! She is a true black, quiet female born of our foundation female Tiramisu and sired by Tealwater's Midnight Special - both parents carry bloodlines from Washington State that are rare in the Great Lakes region. Midnight Special is a grandson of the well known True Black Bolivian import Black Thunder.

Velvet's first cria, Tealwater's Midsummer Night won Dark Color Champion Fleece at the 2016 Michigan Fiber Festival AOA Certified Fleece Show under judge Wade Gease. Wade's comments on the fleece scoring tag stated "Love this fleece! Density, brightness, overall uniformity are positive." We entered Midsummer Night's three (3) year old 2016 clip into the show. She scored a 75, placing over four much younger and two older alpacas' entries for the Champion Fleece ribbon! Black Velvet's fleece entered into the same show scored 61.5 in the oldest age group category, over five years old.
