Jet Stream crossed the Rainbow bridge. He is gone but never forgotten.
Jet Stream from his birth to when he left us was an exceptional alpaca. His offspring are numerous and his characteristics have passed on to multiple generations. Continuing Jet Streams genetics is never a wrong farm decision.
2014 @ 11 years of age Jet Stream sheared 7.6 lbs of fleece, and his histogram AFD was 24.5 He is in the top1% of EPD's for SD = Low Spread. Perfect for processing. top 5% in 6 out of 7 EPD categories.
"We bought Jet Stream when he was just six months old because we recognized that his dense, lustrous, independently locked fleece was superior to any alpaca we had seen. We were even more impressed after he was sheared and we saw his re-growth. In addition to outstanding fleece characteristics, Jet Stream has correct proportions, large bone and excellent coverage." Kristina Flegel - Dos Donas Alpacas
From the beginning, Jet's density stood out. Our thoughts were confirmed by a skin biopsy which showed that he has an average density of 63.5 follicles per square mm of skin and a secondary to primary (s/p) ratio of 10.6 to 1. Follicle testing was relatively new but average density was around 35-40 sq mm and the average s/p ratio was 6/7 to 1.
The mark of a great herdsire is the quality of his offspring! Jet Stream's offspring have not only done well in the show ring but their skin biopsies results have been incredibly consistent. He has dramatically improved the density and fineness of every dam we have data on, and that is the majority of our herd. Most of his cria are born with a greasy feel to their fleece and have twisted locks, as well. One of his daughters, Look At Me, is TWICE AS DENSE as her dam and also the finest in our herd with an AFD of 19 and only 0.5% above 30! Her full histogram is available upon request. Jet Stream's sons are now carrying on the tradition of quality. Golden Eye's first daughter won light Champion at the 2011 AOBA National Show!
Jet Stream won Get of Sire at the 2008 IAOBA, the only show we have had enough crias of the same color to enter. Although the show was small, the competition was great- Jet Stream beat the highly promoted full Accoyo, Somethin's Up, owned by Five Star. The judge noted that both groups had great density but placed Jet's get in first based on the uniformity and definition of lock and a higher degree of luster. We are very proud of this win and his ability to pass his superior characteristics on to his progeny.
Jet Stream is also available for Drive By Breedings for a reduced fee of $1,250. Ask about our multiple breeding discounts of 15% off two or 25% off 3 breedings to any of our herdsires.
Jet's offspring have incredible Uniformity of micron. We have several biopsy results with a spread of 3 -6 microns. Note: the average of animals tested is >9.0
