RV is a multiple blue ribbon winner. His show record speaks for his style and presence, his excellent confirmation and his wonderful soft, uniform fleece qualities - in a gray fleece! Out of the crias born so far, 3 are black and 4 are gray and the color patterns are all almost identical to RV! His color is definitely coming through!

He is a proud dark silver gray Danko son. Danko, Patagonia's phenomenal herd sire, is well known for throwing champion progeny of all colors, especially grey and black. RV also carries the rare Peruvian Platinum gray genetics from mom’s side. Peruvian Platinum died several years ago, so this great genetic line is limited.

Another surprise but an absolutely beautiful true black!

Everyone who's been in the alpaca business for long knows that if a pregnant alpaca does not give birth before 10 am, they will give birth the next day.

Not necessarily true about this little girl. We watched her mother for the entire day and gave up when it got dark. Lady gave birth "in the middle of the night".

That's how she got her name ... it's the first phrase of the Billy Joel song River of Dreams. We call her Rio.
