AROSA Tuscan Black was bred by Don and Carolyn Marquette of The Alpaca Rosa. When they offered half interest for sale, we bought that half in spite of owning the sire, understanding the genetic powerhouse his pedigree held. His dam is a Canadian bred medium brown Futurity champion and champion producer. Jim Stark proclamied Crystal as the best brown female alpaca he had ever seen. On her first breeding to Tuscan Gold, she produced true black AROSA Dazzlyn who was bought by Irish Meadows Alpacas sight unseen based on a fleece picture we had forwarded to them from Don Marquette. Dazzlyn was still a cria at side at the time. She went on to win at least 7 championships for Irish Meadows. Because of Dazzlyn, Crystal was rebred to Tuscan Gold and produced Tuscan Black. He also exhibits phenomenal fleece and has placed in the ribbons at the shows. However, his show career was cut short due to an injury. Tuscan Black is showing his prepotency through his first crias who have hit the ground in 2012. The Alpaca Rosa has true black Piper's Sniper with amazing fleece (see photos), a Marquette client has Jakota, already a multichampion as a juvenile, and we have had a handful of Tuscan Black crias, most notably Black Lace, an amazing low 16 micron as a 9-month-old with beautifully bright, crimpy fleece that earned her a second place at the 2015 Futurity under judge Amanda Vandenbosch.
The next Tuscan Gold generation has arrived - in a big way, and Tuscan Black is one of those top herdsire sons of Tuscan Gold.
