Hi Doctor,

I am a new alpaca owner. I am getting delivery of 5 alpacas next week. They were at a farm that had little pasture and only hay fed. My pasture is lush and plentiful. It should be an alpaca heaven.....hope they like it. Should I be worried about this change in their diet? Is hay fed just like pasture fed? Please advise.

Thank you,
Terri

I noticed that Dr. Ruth hadn't replied. How are your alpacas? I'm sure they're enjoying the lush pastures. Have they had any belly aches? By now they may be use to the fresh forage. Even with mine, I offer them a little hay before they go out on the pastures as a bit of a buffer against indegestion. Hope all is well. Welcome to alpaca ownership!!
