Brooklyn Alpacas Welcome’s you
To a Wonderful Herd of Alpacas!!!
You heard it right - Brooklyn, New York. I'm Phil Aron, and I, with my wife Shelly, raise alpacas in Brooklyn. When people hear that the most Common reaction is: Brooklyn?! "Where do you keep alpacas in Brooklyn? And we answer: "On the beach in Coney Island, where we walk them every evening." But seriously, one day, I got a phone call from a friend telling me to turn on the TV. I saw a woman with wonderful, angelic animals - alpacas of course. She claimed she was making a living selling them and experiencing a stress-free lifestyle to boot!
Well, that was all I had to hear. I did some on-line research to learn about alpacas and the lifestyle and eventually made a few farm visits. We were very fortunate to meet Steve McCarthy and Jeff Lick, owners of Spruce Ridge Farm in Old Chatham, N.Y. Steve and Jeff became our mentors over the years and we boarded our Alpacas with them while still living in Brooklyn.
We have now moved and are ready for our new lifestyle out of the city and in the country. We are hoping that retirement in the country with these beautiful animals will be tranquil, slower paced, and just a new way of life. To help out with all of this we have hired a farm manager: Amy Austin from Greenville, N.Y. Amy has been wonderful to have around and we greatly appreciate all that she does.
We are proud to say that Brooklyn Alpacas is now a full time, full service alpaca farm located on 26 acres in Greene County in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York State. Brooklyn Alpacas specializes in suris. We believe in breeding quality genetics to obtain the best fiber in the world. We take our breeding decisions very seriously and now advise other breeders in making good decisions. Our herd is comprised of diverse, championship bloodlines and represents a fine choice of alpacas. We also agist other farms alpacas for them and can help new owners with any questions they may have regarding agisting. We are 2.5 hours from NYC, 1.5 hours from Vermont and 20 minutes from the Massachusetts border.
Farm visits by appointment are welcome.
Come just to visit with our alpacas or to consult on sales, breeding, or boarding!
