High Meadow Alpacas is located on 150 acres in historic Leipers Fork, about thirty minutes south of Nashville. Michael and Charlotte Goldston have put together a superior herd of award winning alpacas (the largest herd in the Southeast!) , incorporating some of the finest bloodlines to be found anywhere.
Their goal is to breed high quality females to some of the top award winning studs in the country. In the past 11 years they have won over 1100 show and fleece ribbons in major national shows, so it must be working!
The alpacas health comes first at High Meadow, and Dr. Norm Evans, the well respected camelid expert, personally oversees the health of the herd to ensure that everyone is in top form. He visits the farm to monitor and oversee the farm's medical operations. They also do extensive preventive health care including routine blood panels, fecals, and ultrasounds to spot any deficiencies quickly; as well as new cutting edge research by Dr. Evans on skin biopsies to help predict breeding success. No expense is spared on the welfare of the animals, and they have some of the healthiest alpacas in the industry.
In addition, there is full time qualified staff on the farm, 24 hour emergency vet care assistance for clients, help with setting up your farm, establishing your breeding program, shearing, showing, and all other facets of the business. The "Southern Gentlemen of High Meadow" consist of sixteen studs of exceptional quality with colors ranging from white to black . Nowhere in the Southeast is there access to a higher quality group of studs with top national bloodlines in one place. Discounted drive-by breedings and boarded breedings are available typically from October through May each year, during their 8-9 month breeding season.
