UPDATE: we just returned from the 2012 Michigan Alpaca Breeders show...Wind Crest Kale took first place, Rhea took second and Selene took 4th. Kale is our first cria sired by FPA Abacus and we are excited with his first place ribbon! Breedings to Abacus are still available.

Welcome to Wind Crest Alpaca Ranch (WCAR)!

We are a small family-run alpaca ranch located on 114 acres of windy, rolling hills in Tustin, MI. We met our first alpaca in 2005, bought our first alpacas and moved to the farm in 2006. And oh, what an adventure this has been!!

Our herd is made up of some of the finest genectics in the country. Our focus is on quality animals. We have done well in the show ring, we have won color championships and even a reserve color championship at Nationals in 2010! Yes, it is possible for small farms to compete against large farms. We have discovered that the size of the farm isn't necessarily what the judge is looking at...it's the quality of the animal!

We are breeding for exceptional alpacas. We are also trying to breed exceptional alpacas at a reasonable price. We have spent a lot of money on breedings to great males, only to be disappointed when a fiber quality male was born. The breeding cost more than we could ever sell the offspring for. We try to offer breedings to our males at a price that any offspring could sell for, even in today's economy. We are not lowering our standards. We are very excited about the future of our herd.

All of our animals are halter trained and do not mind being handled. Of course, some are easier to work with than others!
