New Richmond Alpaca Farm has been in the alpaca business for six years. Many people ask us how we got into raising alpacas and the answer is quite simple. We went to an Open House/Farm Days and fell in love. We then purchased a package of five animals; three pregnant females and two males. At the time we didn't live on our family farm so we just simply boarded them. While we personally moved and renovated our farm for alpacas, we would visit them often, taking them on walks and feeding apples and carrots. Our year long wait ended as our animals were delivered and the rest is history. We now have a herd of 30 and love each one equally.
In addition to owning the alpacas, we also sell product such as teddy bears, sweaters, hats, gloves, and much more made from the alpaca fleece.
We specialize in dealing with individuals who are looking to purchase their first alpaca. Anyone can sell you an animal ! We like to assist individuals in evaulating what they want out of this business. No one likes to admit mistakes, but to be very honest we made many in the beginning. This is why we know we can help you find the right animal(s) to start your herd. Whether its a couple of pets for the grandkids, better animals for the showring, selecting your own herdsire for studding, or just one animal to board, have great tax benefits, without an everyday committment.
Greg & I still have full time jobs which we love, but coming home to our babies is really the best !
