Who we are:
“Alpacas for Autism” is the mission of Golden Heartland Enterprises. Golden Heartland is a
family owned alpaca ranch in Adrian, Missouri (50 miles south of Kansas City) run by Tina and Bob
Cochran. Our mission is to provide a quality home for alpaca “boys” and share the world of alpacas
and fiber arts while raising money to support autism causes.

What we do:
We host family friendly fund raising events 3 times a year. Two of these events are held at the ranch and one is held in Overland Park, KS. “Farm Days” is held the last full weekend of September at the ranch and features
unique craft vendors, alpaca encounters and the “alpaca of the year” contest. The “Spring Fling” is held in Overland Park, KS in April. This event is a family friendly fiber and craft festival with live music, fiber artist demos, craft activities, craft shopping and a silent auction. “Meet and Greet” is held at the ranch on the first Saturday in June. Held after shearing, this event includes the annual raw fiber sale and popular “alpaca shower” activity. Each event provides many opportunities to purchase unique fiber arts items and donate to support autism causes. We also offer private group tours for all ages all year. Low cost fiber and companion alpaca males are always available for sale with a portion of the proceeds supporting this program.

Why we do it:
We know the challenges that come with raising a child with autism. Our son, Anthony, is autistic. As a result, we are committed to supporting organizations that provide respite for families and social activities for children on the autism spectrum. Currently, all funds raised through the program benefit Camp Encourage, a summer camp exclusively for children on the autism spectrum. Camp Encourage offers a quality overnight camp opportunity involving relationship development, recreation, and relaxation and is specifically designed to meet the needs of children and youth with autism spectrum disorders. How you can get involved:
Getting involved is easy and fun! Attend any of our events or participate as a fiber arts demonstrator, vendor or sponsor. Schedule your own group tour! You can even donate directly through the Camp Encourage website and
