Emerald Alpacas

We are just a little 'paca farm! A number of years ago, I was looking for a "little" part time job. As a mom, I did not want to spend any more time away from my family than I already did at my full time job as a school social worker. I have always loved animals, having grown up surrounded by ducks, chickens, rabbits, horses, and even pigs. Livestock breeding seemed to be the answer, but what animal? During a late night surfing on the web, I came across the most intriguing animal-the alpaca. I read everything I could find, and it did not take me long-I was hooked. After a few weeks, I located a breeder near me and called to schedule a visit. My daughter and I went together and fell in love with these charming creatures and the lifestyle associated with them. Now, after a difficult day at my "real" job, I can not wait to get home to my 'pacas so they can tell me about their day....hmmmmm.

Well, we have been involved in the alpaca lifestyle for a few years now. I have learned so much about these marvelous creatures and experienced great joy. I have come to appreciate the total dedication of so many in this business! The support I received as a newbie to this adventure was amazing. I have worked at a large farm and gained the experience of treating multiple health issues, difficult births, intensive care crias, and general herd management. I am currently a veterinary technician student. We proudly offer full service boarding in Gaines.
