Welcome to Alpine Suri Alpacas! We are pleased to announce that Alpine Suri Alpacas won the coveted award of Reserve Suri Breeder of the Year! We have a small, elite alpaca herd that consistently ranks with the top suri breeders in the nation. It just proves that you don't have to be big! If you're interested in alpacas, please contact us for guidance on creating and mainting the best quality alpacas for your alpaca venture.
We're located in Alpine, Utah about 35 minutes south of Salt Lake City. Alpine is at the base of the Wasatch Mountain Range at 5,000 feet elevation. It's beautiful country, surrounded by mountains; it's a glorious place to raise these enchanting animals.
The Suri Alpaca has completely stolen our hearts. The first suri we saw was in full fleece. As it was crossing a pasture its fleece was flowing slowly from side to side, following the pace of its footsteps. We were captivated! Could there be a more elegant, a more staturesque, or a more graceful animal? We discovered how bright, how quiet, how gentle, how clean, how loyal these suris can be. If you love animals, you will definitely love suri alpacas!

And why the Accoyo Suri?
Don Julio Barreda, at his Accoyo Estancia in Peru, dedicated over 60 years of diligent genetic selection and methodical breeding to develop pure bloodlines of superior suri alpacas. Not only did he perfect conformation in his animals, he bred his Accoyo herd to produce the finest fiber and the greatest volume of this fineness. Fiber processors paid premiums for the fiber from Accoyo. When the Peruvian government opened its borders to the alpaca trade, the rest of the world was awed by the quality of the alpacas coming out of Accoyo Estancia. Never before had the world seen alpacas like the Accoyo Suris.
Prepotent genetics are found within the Accoyo bloodlines and can be very important to the success of a breeding program.
The group who established the American Accoyo Suri Collection in the United States, did a study to determine how well Accoyo genetics have done in the show ring. Considering the largest shows in the industry (AOBA, Futurity, Mapaca, GWAS, OABA), they found that over 80% of the number of color champions in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 shows had Accoyo genetics. The 2005 AOBA and 2007 Futurity shows actually resulted in 100% Accoyo genetics in reigning color champions.
Thank you to Don Julio Barreda for his extreme efforts and meticulous record-keeping to produce these exceptionally superior Suri Alpacas. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to own offspring from the legendary herd sires that graced our land not long ago.
