Rosey and Pegasus getting to know each other!
Its not an alpaca, but we already feel like she is part of our horse family! Meet Pegasus! She is a miniature horse we adopted from Diane Abrahamsen of Alpaca Galaxy. Maggie and Amy fell in love with her and so we decided to adopt her and give her a good home for Diane. We figure she will be another farm favorite besides Midnight the donkey and lizzie the dog with the kids from tours that we do.
When we brought her home last night, we introduced her one at a time with the herd. We started with the alpha female, Regard. Pegasus would lower her head in a sign of submission to her. Rosey and Midnight both accepted her easily. It is Poldark, the gelding that is giving her the grief. He is settling down today with her though.
Tonight, when I checked on her, Pegasus was under the overhang licking the mineral block. We spent the evening restringing the electric fence around the perimeter of the pastures. We have split railing and we don't want her to make a jail break.
So far so good with her and we hope she continues to settle in with the other horses and gets comfortable with us. We have the horse ferrier coming tomorrow to trim everyones feet and hopefully Pegasus will let him do hers too.
I wonder what Rosey is thinking?
She is miniature next to Rosey
Keeping a safe distance from Regard.
They are starting to accept her!

multitasking day!
Today was a full fiber day at the ranch! I washed fiber from our herdsire Rohan and set the twist in 7 skiens of yarn that I plied last night. The boxes are clients fleeces I am mailing back after I took them to Nationals for the fleece show! On the table in the front, I carded my rose gray blanket fiber and her second fiber today. It turned out beautiful. Truely a labor of love! check back often as I will update what projects I am working on! Some days it is only one action item, others like today, multiple!
