Gelding & Selling alpacas...

Tomorrow little Brick looses his manhood. And, hopefully, within a couple of days (post procedure) - he will leave for his new home. With Blossom. NanaM has been waiting for these guys since the middle of December (2011). They're going to LOVE their new place (I'm SURE!) They'll have a brand-spankin' new barn with electric and running water! And new owners that will treat them like royalty. And a couple of goats for barn-mates. =o]

Selling alpacas is usually the reason many of us get into the industry. You try to improve the quality of your foundation herd by breeding up. When breeding regularly - the numbers increase. Meaning -- some alpacas will have to leave eventually.

On one hand I "know" I have to make room, by selling. On the other - I am responsible for the well-being of each and every animal. So finding them a home where they will be properly taken care of is vitally important. But not always easy. Only selling to the "perfect buyer" will unfortunately limit the potential for sales. Since I am responsible for creating these little lives - it also makes me responsible for doing what I can to insure the rest of their lives are as wonderful as possible.

They deserve only "the best". It makes their departure a little easier when you feel confident that they are going to magnificent homes.
