Chachapoya is a three year old silver grey male we obtained from Adirondack Alpaca to be our herdsire. He is sired by the great American Black national champion, Gand River Mezcal. Mezcal has sired many champions of a variety of colors. His dam is the equally decorated Stella Cloud. Poyo has been shown twice at the NM State Fair, coming in closely tied for first place in 2009 and in first place in 2010. Both times the AOBA Judge described him as a "true macho", with great presence and ownership of the ring. He has settled the females easily, since his first breeding at 18 months.
Poyo has three young ones on the ground, and we could not be more thrilled!
His first born is Angelite, a beautiful long fleeced light rose grey (almost pink) Angelite, (See her picture). At shearing she had almost 5" of fleece and it is simply sweet in color and softness.
His second born is Belleza (Belle). Belle is a beautiful medium grey with dense crimpy fleece and is a perfect look alike to her beautiful sire.
Last week, Poyo's third cria emerge: Sustantivo (Tivo) a beautiful little boy. We almost missed the fact of his birth; he looks so much like Belle, we thought we were looking at her. Weighing in at 16 pounds, he is a gorgeous male, and nearly identical to both his sire and sister.
We are expecting his fourth cria as we write. We bred this great boy to our beautiful Super Sam female, Wyndy. She is a large white and brown girl.
Poyo is turning out to be the dominant breeder like his sire, Grand River Mezcal, who puts his distinctive and high quality mark on his crias!
