| Bred in the high mountains of New Mexico, Cochiti (pronounced CO-chi-tee)is nothing short of spectacular. A large, tall male with a proud head and bearing, Cochiti has already impressed judges with his presence as well as his fleece in big company. His achievements include White Male Color Champion at both GWAS (Denver) and AlpacaFest West. More recently, he won White Color Champion and the award for Best Crimp in the AWE Fleece Show 2006. Included in that competition was the White Color Champi... |

Laureate was one of our first purchases and has produced some of our best offspring. She has given us 3 cria and they all are extremely fine and carry a beautiful fleece along with correct conformation. She is a cross between a Victor/Hemingway line male and a Bolivian import dam. Her fleece demonstrates outstanding density and a very good handle even at 6 years of age. Her yearling micron was 15.7 and has maintained a 24 micron at 7 years of age.
Her ability to pass on density AND fineness... |

| Accoyo America Tempest is a male cast in his VERY famous father's image (Nautilus).. and the winning cria that Nautilus has produced is a "Who's Who" of the Alpaca Industry [ Accoyo America Typhoon, Sinbad, Apocalypse, and Shanghai, to name just a few..] and his dam is no slouch either, producing Tempest’s full brother Typhoon – who sold for a whopping $100,000 at the 2006 Parade of Champions sale. Tempest has a stunningly bright fleece with high frequency, low amplitude crimp. Long, long stapl... |

This girl is definitely for the discerning breeder. Amalaya was the first female cria born on our farm; she was impressive at birth and continues to impress us today. We were amazed at the brightness to her fleece- several breeders at the shows we attended were also impressed. Her fleece carries a very bold, high amplitude crimp and has the soft yet dense handle of her dam Laureate. Her temperament is what we like in a female; she is easy to handle and seems to enjoy interacting with our family and visitors to our farm. Her place in the history of our farm will always be special- she was the first alpaca that entered a show for Gem State Alpacas! She took 5th in a very large white female juvenile class at the CABA Classic, with judge Julio Sumar commenting "I like this one very much". She followed that show with a 6th place at the AOBA National Show in Sandy, Utah in a class of 18 alpacas! As new breeders to the alpaca industry it was a very exciting time. So far, her fleece has won 2 first place ribbons as well as the white color champion at the NW Alpaca Showcase in 2009.
Amalaya's first cria, out of Snowmass Inspiration, now is standing stud at our farm. He is very typey like his mom along with being dense, fine, consistent; all of the qualities we look for in an alpaca. Check out his video from YouTube and you'll see what we're talking about!
Her second cria and third cria, both boys, were sired by PC Running Late. Amalaya proved her ability to throw color by giving us a fine AND dense light fawn boy we named Optimus Prime. "Prime" showed well, and is now working his way to breeding age. His fleece has maintained the qualities that the judges appreciated, and should be a valued working male for infusing color, fineness, density, and character to the girls he meets. Our newest boy, named Trubadore, is a white boy with Amalaya's frame and good looks. He'll be one to wait and see on!
Amalaya is currently bred to Accoyo America Tempest, owned by Sandy Wallace at Alpacas of Marin. Tempest is a Nautilus son that has retained great fineness and is one of the densest males we have put our hands on. Ian Watt confirmed this with his skin biopsy report done at 4 years of age. This pairing, with little doubt in our minds, is going to produce something very special.
